Chiltern Youth Chamber Orchestra (CYCO) was founded in 1998 by Peter Hanson, Caroline and Rachel Maguire to give local young musicians an opportunity to play together under professional guidance. It is a member of Making Music, the National Federation of Music Societies.
CYCO has around 25 members aged between 12 and 18 and are current members of other orchestras. These include: Buckinghamshire County Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and local music centres. As well as these, members also participate in their own school orchestras.
Our great team of professional Music Directors at CYCO is one of the orchestra’s greatest assets. Our conductor is Leon Gee and he is supported by Hannah Lewis (cello), Caroline Maguire (double bass), Pip Malloy (viola), and Rosie Henbest (violin), all of whom are professional musicians and teachers.
Our orchestra holds regular rehearsals from September to April, usually 3 sessions each half term, from 2-5pm at Heatherton House School, Chesham Bois and the orchestra members enjoy playing in two concerts each year.
